What Is Fitness for Life?

Fitness for Life is an interactive blog for people interested in improving their health and life by engaging in a pain-free exercise program. I provide an opportunity for readers to talk about and ask questions about my daily exercise-oriented postings.

Definition of Exercise

mountainbiker_final2Physical exercise is an activity requiring physical effort done to sustain or improve health. The effort required results in a feeling of being physically tired or fatigued. Exercise should never cause pain. When certain exercises are done, improvement in one’s flexibility, strength, balance, and endurance results. This is why we recommend exercise to improve health.

The ability to engage in different exercises is variable depending on many factors, including a person’s age, the presence of disease, the presence of a disability, and for other reasons. Exercise for improved health should not be considered a performance for an achievement under test conditions. Improvement in health occurs when a feeling of being tired occurs after an effort is made. Improvement in health does not necessarily occur when a certain level of performance is achieved. Exercise for better health is not a competition.
